Technology Integration
Since the schools closure, we have been having weekly online classes, In my opinion this is not a very good way of assigning us work and teaching us. It can be hard to keep up with work sometimes because every students gets loads of emails from their teachers which makes it hard to find what we need to do. Some of the work we get is pointless and some of it doesn’t make sense because we haven’t relearned any kind of material in almost 2 months. Another reason why I do not like this is because the Google hangouts are pointless as well. This is because each class call I get is no more than 10 to 15 minutes long. I feel like I get nothing achieved after leaving a class call and I don’t really gain anything from it. These are some of the reasons why I do not like the online classes

Since the closure of school, everything has been very boring. On a good note though, I have picked up a new routine and new hobby. I have been playing the drums a little bit more since I have the time I and taught myself a few new things. I wake up pretty late every morning so every day starts in the afternoon. This throws off time for me because I am still getting use to it. I workout everyday to keep me occupied and stay in shape. Even though the school’s closure was sudden and we all need to stay in our homes, I manage to stay busy and occupied.
This week in help desk, we worked on different forms of technology. We used a deep lens camera which indentifies what's in front of it. If I were to walk in front of the camera, it would make a box around me and it would say "person". We. put multiple different objects in front of the camera and it identified almost all of them. We also used a raspberry pi which is a type of software that is used to run a computer. It was interesting using this because its much different and slower than anything else I've used. I have never used ether of these and I found both of them very interesting.
Last week, me and my partner have been working on coding with drones. We set up obstacles in the lower library and tried making the drones fly through hula hoops. We mainly did this for CS-ed week to show students what you can do with coding and how to use it with different things. We are also working on a slideshow showing how it all works and some additional information about drones.
Mrs. Palmers class came to our class so that we could introduce a few new things to them. I helped and taught some of the students about virtual reality which is a virtual world where you can look around 360 degrees. We played educational games along with some fun games such as beat sabers. People seemed to really like it and were interested in how it worked. They also liked using the 3D printer and creating designs and key chains but the virtual reality was by far the most popular.
Recently in class, we've been doing a lot of coding/programming. One example is when we used the playground circuit. The playground circuit is a disc with multiple lights around the perimeter and you have the option to have it make a noise or change colors. I decided to make mine change colors by creating a code that made the lights flash different colors every second.
Throughout the first few weeks of help desk we learned multiple different things. We started off by trying out different forms of technology such as flying drones, coding, fixing minor technical difficulties and more. So far this has been a fun and enjoyable course that helps students learn their way around different devices.
